Roland Ferwerda has a thorough knowledge of developing EV charging ecosystems and topics such as roaming and interoperability. With a backgroiund in the energy sector, Roland is currently director of the Netherlands Knowledge Platform for Charging Infrastructure (NKL): a foundation focusing on the accelerated growth and maturity of the market for EV charging infrastructure, together with all stakeholders (www.nklnederland.com)  

In this capacity, he is a member of the steering committee of the Dutch “National Charging Agenda”, organizing the rollout of publicly accessible charging infrastructure in the Netherlands. NKL is also responsible for the NAL working groups for “Open markets and protocols” and “Charging for Logistics” 

His other activities include board membership of the EVRoaming Foundation to manage the worldwide interoperability protocol OCPI (evroaming.org), and international assignments in Middle East, Latin-America, Asia and via the United Nations to coordinate the development of policy frameworks, realize interoperability and market agreements and coordinate the rollout of charging station networks.
