Richard is International Business Consultant at the Energy Systems Catapult (ESC) in Birmingham, developing an international strategy for the ESC and its stakeholders. In this role he is responsible for building a proactive programme of international engagement in specific target regions of the world, liaising with UK government departments to support trade and overseas development objectives.
Prior to the ESC, Richard has worked as a business development consultant for the last decade in renewables, grid and power electronics, serving clients at every stage of company development.
Earlier in his career he held senior roles in the semiconductor industry, following every stage of the development of mobile communications industry. This began with early analogue mobile phones, moving on through digital cellular to modern smartphones, and he lead teams developing the industry’s first GSM “1G” chipset at VLSI Technology and later dominated the Bluetooth at CSR (“Cambridge Silicon Radio”), now Qualcomm.
