Matt White is the Head of Engineering Compliance and Standards at UK Power Networks.

Matt has over 20 years’ experience in the electricity distribution networks industry, having worked both at EDF Energy and UK Power Networks across this period. He has a background in electrical engineering and has built up an extensive portfolio of experience in areas ranging from designing and developing new network infrastructure to regional strategic investment planning. He has led the way in the integration of Low Carbon Technologies, having created new policies and standards and driven industry wide initiatives. More recently Matt has led the Customer Service and Innovation teams in delivering industry-leading customer service and innovative solutions across key strategic focus areas for enabling Net Zero and was also responsible for delivering the Consumer Vulnerability Strategy, supporting customers in vulnerable situations, and ensuring that no one is left behind in the energy transition. In Matt’s current role as Head of Engineering Compliance and Standards he is responsible for working across the business to define and lead the engineering strategy and technical standards that underpin the safe, resilient, and cost-effective development and operation of UKPN’s networks, influencing how the network is designed, built, and maintained to ensure it remains fit for purpose in the face of changing technologies and the energy transition.
