Marzia Zafar is the Deputy Director of Governance for Data & Digitalisation at Ofgem.

Marzia leads cross-functional teams that design and implement regulatory and governance frameworks to enable a more digitised, decentralised and resilient energy system. Her role involves convening stakeholders across industry, government and the innovation community to align on strategic priorities and deliver actionable reform. She champions innovation through the effective deployment of Ofgem’s £450 million innovation fund, ensuring investments are targeted at scalable solutions that accelerate the energy transition and deliver tangible value for consumers and the system. Her focus is on unlocking system-wide change by embedding flexibility, digitalisation and local empowerment into the core of energy market design.
