Dr Maria Brucoli is a chartered electrical engineer with over 17 years of experience both in academia and industry. Maria holds a first class cum summa laude master’s degree from Politecnico di Bari in power systems engineering and a PhD from Imperial College, London where she was also a research associate. She is a technical expert on microgrids and smart energy solutions.

Her industry work spans numerous fields of electrical engineering including design for building services, energy consulting for some of the key market players and international development for rural energy systems.

Currently, Maria is the Smart Energy Systems Manager with the EDF Energy R&D UK Centre supporting the business activities around distributed generation, battery storage, microgrids and local energy markets.
