As Director of Network Strategy for the UK’s largest gas distribution network John is accountable for system operation, asset strategy and engineering policy.  His team are focused on keeping the energy flowing safely and reliably to 11m customers and meeting the challenge of a net zero future means the opportunities created by digital technology need to be embedded into asset strategies and operation of the network.  John started his career in the energy industry working on nuclear power stations before joining the Health and Safety Executive as an Inspector, predominantly working in the major hazard and gas sectors.  In 2000 he joined Transco (Cadent’s predecessor) initially working in safety before taking up senior leadership roles in the operational business managing field engineers.  After a period leading Cadent’s operational transformation programme, John took up his role as Director of Network Strategy in 2019.
