Smart Metering Programme Director, Co-operative Energy

Duncan Carter is Co-operative Energy’s smart meter strategy manager, a role that encompasses the commercial and regulatory aspects of smart metering.

Prior to joining Co-operative Energy in December 2014, Duncan worked in Ofgem’s Smarter Metering team on a variety of aspects of the smart meter regulatory framework, working with DECC and industry. He also worked at Consumer Focus (now part of Citizen’s Advice) in their Energy Regulation team, and for the Carbon Capture and Storage Association. He holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental and Earth Resources Management.

Co-operative Energy is a national energy retailer founded in 2010 and is part of the Midcounties Co-operative, the largest independent co-operative in the UK. We don’t have shareholders to perform for so all our profit is returned to members, supports community projects or is reinvested in the business.

Co-operative Energy has around 250k energy customers and operates entirely in the domestic sector.
