Chris is CEO of Market Operator Services Ltd (MOSL), having joined the company in June 2017. MOSL is a company owned jointly by all the water companies who trade in the competitive non-household retail water market in England, which opened on 1 April 2017.
An experienced business leader, Chris has worked at board level for over 15 years including 12 years as Chief Executive and 7 years in non-executive director roles. He has successfully run businesses in regulated industries and has transformed businesses to deliver in changing markets. He has worked in a range of industries across Europe, USA, Asia and Australia.
Chris was CEO of National Rail Enquiries, a private company owned by the train operating companies. He led the digital transformation of this national consumer brand, growing business eight-fold to become the market leader while reducing costs, driving ticket sales and migrating 99% of business online: he created a highly trusted brand with 17 million customers. He then established a data services company to develop a market in rail data products, and grew it to serve 1,100 clients. Recently he has assisted several major organisations as an interim.
Chris graduated from the University of Cambridge and worked initially in artificial intelligence before moving into management consultancy with PwC where he became a financial services specialist. He moved on to turn around the operations of a listed internet marketing company and was a non-executive director of a specialist business telco.
Chris has appeared before the House of Commons Select Committee, he has been a guest speaker at the London Business School, and he has chaired conferences and won many awards.
Chris is a Chartered Director, and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors.
