Chris Russell is the co-founder and Managing Director of Tonik Energy – a relatively new entrant to the UK energy supply market. Tonik’s stated aim is to halve their customers’ energy bills by 2022. They plan to do this by liberating customers from the traditional ‘mark-up model’ of energy supply, tackling some of the fundamental industry failings experienced by customers, and by introducing new technologies and automation to enable the customer to reduce their energy bills. Chris is a firm supporter of smart metering and believes smart grids to be a fundamental enabler for innovation and efficiency in the UK and European energy sector. Prior to founding Tonik, Chris worked as a Director at Baringa Partners in their energy retail practice for 3 years, having previously spent 8 years working at Accenture in their retail, and energy practices.
