Brett started his career in manufacturing (FMCG) holding various operational management roles before moving into a full-time safety role 15 years ago. His first safety role was a national Health and Safety Manager at the Co-Operative Dairies, before moving into the telecoms sector initially with Telewest then Virgin Media. Brett was Head of Health and Safety at Virgin Media for three years and led a cultural transformation programme across its field operations teams (around 3000 people), turning a safety culture based on legislation and rules into one of shared learning and an ethical desire to get everyone home safe at the end of each working day. Brett joined Northumbrian Water Group in the summer of 2016 and has introduced a new safety leadership program within the organisation.
Brett believes that safety should be a net contributor to the wider business success and the only way to deliver great health and safety performance is through frontline involvement, collaboration and above all excellent senior leadership
