Dr. Tony Ballance is Director of Strategy & Regulation at Severn Trent and is responsible for the development of Severn Trent Plc’s group strategy and plan; all aspects of economic regulation; asset planning and the company’s communications functions.  Tony was on the Board of Severn Trent Plc from 2007 to 2014.  Tony is also a Non-Executive Director for the National Forest Company.

Prior to joining Severn Trent in August 2005 Tony was an economic consultant in the utilities sector working as a Director for Stone & Webster Consultants and London Economics. His work was principally divided between advising UK water companies and regulators – and work in developing countries on utility privatisation and restructuring (for the World Bank, DFID and other international agencies).

Prior to going into consultancy, Tony was Senior Director, Economic Affairs/Chief Economist, on the executive team, at the Office of Water Services (Ofwat) – where he worked for 6 years.
