Scott Corfe is the Chief Economist of the Social Market Foundation (SMF) – a non-partisan Westminster-based think tank. The SMF undertakes a wide-ranging research programme examining the role that policymakers can play in delivering more effective consumer markets and public services. At the SMF, Scott has led a range of studies – including an examination of levels of competition in consumer markets, and an assessment of the costs of nationalising the water industry in England.
Before joining the SMF, Scott was Head of Macroeconomics and a Director at the economics consultancy Cebr, where he led much of the consultancy’s thought leadership and public policy research. His expert insights are frequently sought after in publications including the Financial Times, the Sunday Times, the Guardian and the Daily Telegraph. Scott has appeared on BBC News, Sky News, Radio 4 and a range of other broadcast media.
