Rainer Bachmann

Head of Platforms and Operations, E-Mobility, E.ON

Rainer Bachmann mastered in physics at the University RWTH Aachen. After his studying he became responsible for software based process automation in KRUPP steel plants and later in an engineering company of the KRUPP group. From there he moved to THYSSEN and became responsible for operations and software development of the overall order processing for sales and production. Later he became CIO in a major, international mining and drilling company of the THYSSEN group and then headed IT and Innovation of DEMINEX, at that time the largest German E+P company and operating on a worldwide level.

After a short interlude in the financial industry as board member of a private bank he returned to the industry as a partner in the internal management and strategy consultancy of the RWE group. Within RWE he then became responsible for the Business Development for E-Mobility.

In 2012 he returned to management and strategy consultancy as board member of 2 associated consulting companies, focusing on the utilities, DSOs for electrical grids and e-mobility working among others for major automotive OEMs.

Since 2017 he is heading the platforms and operations (CIO) in the e-mobility business of E.ON. Among others he is leading the H2020 funded MEISTER research project about grid stabilization and energy quality.
