Mike started out as a Chemical Engineer, building plants to make replacements for CFC’s. He has worked in retail, energy and the public sector, leading large-scale transformation across the organisations he served. This ranged from improving the number of organ donors in the UK, to establishing the programme to transform the retail supply chain at Boots.
He recently led the profound changes at HMRC to create a true multi-channel business. This included launching the award-winning Personal Tax Account, which now has over 17 million users, and conceiving the strategy to use commercial software to improve tax compliance, known as ‘Making Tax Digital’.
Mike joined Thames Water recently as Chief Technology Officer, and outside of work his passions are his family, good wine, food, football and art, along with many other sports as well.
