Jacob has over 25 years’ experience of the water sector, focusing mainly on water supply and water efficiency.

He is co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at The Water Retail Company, an independent water retailer. He is also a WWF Associate advising on water issues. Previously, he was the Managing Director of Waterwise, an NGO dedicated to promoting the efficient use of water.

He has worked in academia and as a technical policy officer for both the National Farmers’ Union and Water UK. He was involved in establishing the UK Water Partnership and Chaired a commission on the resilience of the UK water sector for Ofwat.

He has degrees in Civil Engineering and Hydrology from University College London and Imperial College London. He is a visiting Professor at Exeter University.

He is an editor of the scientific journal SmartWater which focusses on sensors and smart meters for water and sewerage. He has an OBE for services to water.
