Graduated engineer from the Ecole Superieure d’Electricite; M.Sc in electrical and electronical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Florent XAVIER started his career at Réseau de Transport d’Electricité (RTE) in 2012 as power system stability engineer. He worked in the integration of new technologies (HVDC, offshore wind farm,…).
RTE is the French Transmission System Operator (TSO) in charge of the operation, the maintenance and the development of the high and very high voltage grid (100 000km from 63 to 400kV), and also managing the interconnection lines with other European countries.
Between 2017 and 2020, he was responsible of the R&D group “Power system stability” and he was RTE representative in ENTSOE groups (System Protection and Dynamics, Research Development and Innovation Committee).
Since 2021 Florent has been the R&D Program Director on Climate and long term power system adequacy and planning.
