Chris Houghton is Chief Executive Officer of OVO Group and also Managing Director of its Energy Retail business. He has been instrumental in the transition of OVO Energy from a pure kWh retail business into a diversified energy services company, harnessing technological advances with great consumer propositions to create more abundant clean energy for everyone.
Chris oversaw recent 2017 business transactions, including: the acquisition of grid services technology company VCharge; the acquisition of CORGI HomePlan, the UK’s third largest home services provider; a strategic partnership with Chargemaster, the UK’s biggest provider
of electric vehicle charging infrastructure; and investments into electric vehicle charge point installer, ChargedEV and Indra Renewable Technologies, providers of electric vehicle components and services.
Before OVO Energy, Chris spent 6 years as Finance Director of Telecom Plus, a FTSE250 multi-service utility provider that trades as The Utility Warehouse. Prior to that, Chris worked at PriceWaterhouseCooper for 7 years within its audit and corporate finance divisions. This
period included a 2 year secondment to The Takeover Panel, where Chris oversaw the principle based regulation of numerous high profile public company mergers and acquisitions.
Chris is a passionate cyclist and has been the driving force behind OVO’s first title sponsorship of Britain’s largest professional cycling events; Women’s Tour and Tour of Britain 2017. Chris graduated in Human Sciences from New College, Oxford University.
