Dr Avi Aithal is the Technical Lead for the Open Networks project at Energy Networks Association. Utilising his expertise in laying the foundations of a smart grid in Great Britain, Avi works closely with the network operators, Government, stakeholders, and industry in shaping the roadmap for a Net Zero future

Avi is a Chartered Electrical Engineer with a masters in Electrical Energy Systems and a PhD in Smart Grid. He has more than 12 years of experience working in the energy sector, eight of which were in the UK future energy system landscape.

Avi began his career in power systems working in original equipment manufacturing for five years, after which he began working on several Network Innovation Allowance/Competition projects for UK Distribution Networks Operators as a researcher and consultant.
